Learn how to manage honey bees from the experienced beekeepers of the Boone Regional Beekeepers Association.
Saturday, January 27, 2023, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
No previous beekeeping experience necessary! This introductory class teaches the basics of selecting a location, obtaining bees, hive assembly of a Langstroth hive and what can happen during the first year.
The course agenda covers the following subjects:
- Bee Biology
- Diseases and Pests
- Equipment and Clothing
- Hive Building (two hives built by all attendees)
- Location Planning
- Obtaining Bees
Students will receive:
- Beekeeping Book
- 1 Year Membership to Boone Regional Beekeepers Association
- Lunch
- Snacks
Attendees who attend the complete session will be eligible for drawings for various items including a complete assembled beehive!
